CHARLI SMITH MAKEUP ARTIST

Wedding Hair & Makeup
Terms & Conditions

Every wedding is special, and I want you to feel completely confident in your booking.

Please take a moment to read the following information before securing your wedding date. These terms explain how bookings, payments, trials and wedding morning arrangements work.

01

Booking Confirmation & Reservation Fee

A £100 reservation fee is required to secure your wedding hair and makeup booking.

Your wedding date is officially confirmed once both your £100 reservation fee and your written acceptance of these Terms & Conditions by email have been received.

Until both requirements have been completed, your date is not secured and may remain available for other enquiries.

The £100 reservation fee is deducted from your final wedding balance. If you cancel, it will be handled in accordance with the cancellation policy and your statutory consumer rights.

02

Wedding Hair & Makeup Prices

The following prices apply to new bookings:

  • Bridal Hair & Makeup — £525
  • Bridal Hair Only — £295
  • Bridesmaid or Guest Hair — £80
  • Bridesmaid or Guest Makeup — £80
  • Mother or Mature Guest Hair or Makeup — £75
  • Bridal Hair & Makeup Trial — £295
  • Bridal Hair Only Trial — £175

Bridal makeup alone is not offered as a standalone bridal service.

Once your booking is confirmed, the agreed service prices are guaranteed for your original wedding date, even if published prices increase.

Additional services requested later will be quoted at the prices applicable when agreed. Travel and other expenses are separate.

03

Minimum Booking Values & Weekday Discount

Saturdays, Sundays & Bank Holidays

A minimum wedding-day service booking value of £650 applies, including bride-only bookings. If selected services total less than £650, the booking value will be adjusted to £650.

Trials, travel and other additional expenses do not count towards this minimum.

Monday–Friday, excluding Bank Holidays

There is no minimum wedding-day booking value.

A 10% discount applies where wedding-day hair and makeup services total at least £600 before the discount is applied.

The discount excludes trials, travel, accommodation and other additional expenses.

04

Final Balance & Payment

Your remaining wedding balance is due no later than 21 days before your wedding date.

Payment is made by bank transfer using the details supplied on your invoice. You are welcome to pay earlier if you prefer.

A courtesy reminder will normally be sent a few days before the payment deadline.

If payment has not been received, I will contact you personally to follow up.

Continued non-payment may result in cancellation after reasonable written notice and an opportunity to resolve the matter.

Any applicable cancellation charges or refunds will be assessed fairly in accordance with these Terms & Conditions and your statutory rights.

05

Wedding Booking Cancellations & Refunds

If you need to cancel your wedding booking, please notify me by email as soon as possible.

More than 28 days before the wedding: The £100 reservation fee may be retained where justified by reasonable costs or losses resulting from your cancellation.

Within 28 days of the wedding: A cancellation charge of up to 50% of the agreed wedding-day booking value may apply.

The £100 reservation fee counts towards any cancellation charge and is not charged in addition.

Cancellation charges will reflect reasonable actual or anticipated losses, taking account of costs saved, replacement bookings and reasonable steps taken to reduce any loss.

If you have already paid in full, any amount exceeding the applicable reasonable cancellation charge will be refunded.

Any statutory cancellation and refund rights remain unaffected.

06

Wedding Date Changes & Postponements

I understand that wedding plans can change and will do my best to accommodate postponements.

Within the same calendar year: Your existing £100 reservation fee can be transferred to another date, provided I am available.

To a different calendar year: The revised date will be treated as a new booking, subject to availability, and a new £100 reservation fee will be required.

The original booking will be reviewed under the cancellation policy, and payments already received will be accounted for fairly.

Any revised service prices, travel, accommodation or additional artist costs will be discussed and agreed before the new date is confirmed.

All postponement requests must be made by email.

07

Bridal Trials

Bridal trials are optional but recommended, allowing us to discuss your preferred look and explore suitable hair and makeup styles.

Trial prices:

  • Bridal Hair & Makeup Trial — £295
  • Bridal Hair Only Trial — £175

Trials are charged separately from wedding-day services. Full payment is required at the end of your trial appointment on the day.

If you choose not to have a trial, we will discuss your preferred look before your wedding.

Any additional trial appointments are charged separately at the applicable rate.

08

Bridal Trial Cancellations

Please provide at least 48 hours' notice if you need to cancel or rearrange your bridal trial.

Cancellations or rearrangements with at least 48 hours' notice will not incur a charge.

Where less than 48 hours' notice is given, or an appointment is missed without notice, a reasonable cancellation charge may apply to reflect any loss.

I understand that illness, emergencies and unexpected circumstances arise. These situations will be considered individually with understanding and flexibility.

Please contact me as soon as possible if you are unable to attend.

09

Bridal Party Numbers & Booking Changes

Please provide the names of everyone requiring hair and makeup, together with their chosen services, approximately five months before your wedding, wherever possible.

Bridal party numbers are considered provisionally confirmed approximately four months before the wedding, when additional artists are normally booked.

I understand that arrangements can change and will make reasonable efforts to accommodate amendments.

Adding services: Additional hair or makeup services may be arranged where there is sufficient time in the wedding morning schedule and suitable artist availability. Any additional costs will be agreed in advance.

Reducing services: Reductions can be accommodated, provided the applicable minimum wedding-day booking value is maintained. Where additional artists have already been secured, reasonable and unavoidable costs resulting from the reduction may be payable, subject to your statutory rights.

All changes must be requested by email and will be confirmed in writing.

10

Wedding-Day Cancellations of Individual Services

Each bridal party hair and makeup service has a dedicated appointment time reserved in advance.

If the bride, a bridesmaid, mother or guest decides on the wedding day that they no longer wish to receive a booked service, payment will not normally be refunded where the cancellation causes a reasonable loss.

Any amount retained will reflect the reserved appointment time, the difficulty of replacing the service at short notice and any costs saved.

If a service cannot be provided due to a failure on my part, your statutory consumer rights remain unaffected.

11

Additional Hair & Makeup Artists

For larger bridal parties or where timings require additional assistance, I may arrange experienced, self-employed hair and makeup artists to work alongside me.

Additional artists are independent professionals who manage their own travel arrangements and attendance.

Their services, fees and applicable expenses will be included in your quotation or agreed separately in writing.

Additional artists are normally booked approximately four months before the wedding.

If an additional artist is unexpectedly delayed or unable to attend, I will make reasonable efforts to minimise disruption. This may include adjusting the schedule, arranging an alternative artist or accommodating additional services personally where practical.

A replacement cannot be guaranteed in every circumstance. Where agreed services cannot be provided, appropriate refunds or other remedies will be considered in accordance with your statutory consumer rights.

Nothing in these terms removes any legal responsibility I may have for services arranged as part of your booking.

12

Wedding Morning Information & Schedule

To prepare your wedding morning schedule, please provide the following information approximately five months before your wedding, wherever possible:

  • Your confirmed ceremony time.
  • The full getting-ready address.
  • Names of everyone receiving hair or makeup.
  • The services required by each person.
  • Any special timing requirements, including pre-ceremony photographs.

Your personalised schedule will normally be prepared approximately five months before the wedding or following your bridal trial, where applicable.

Please ensure all members of your bridal party know their allocated appointment times and are ready when required.

Changes to the schedule must be requested and confirmed by email.

13

Punctuality & Appointment Times

To ensure your wedding morning runs smoothly, all members of the bridal party must be ready at their allocated appointment times.

If someone is late, the time available for their service may be reduced. Where necessary, a simpler hairstyle or makeup look may be offered to keep the remaining appointments on schedule.

I will make reasonable efforts to accommodate delays, but cannot guarantee the full originally planned service where time has been lost due to circumstances outside my control.

14

Arrival & Setup

I require approximately 30 minutes before the first scheduled appointment to unload equipment, prepare my working area and set up.

Please ensure the getting-ready location is accessible at the agreed arrival time and that any necessary access instructions are provided in advance.

15

Working Environment

For a safe and comfortable working environment, please provide adequate lighting, a clean table or suitable work surface, chairs and access to electricity.

The working area should offer enough space for equipment and allow services to be carried out safely and without unnecessary interruption.

If the location presents a health or safety concern, I will discuss reasonable alternatives with you before proceeding.

16

Bridal Preparation & Ceremony Support

As part of my standard bridal service, I would normally remain with the bride during the agreed preparation schedule until she is ready to depart for her ceremony.

This allows time for final checks and any finishing touches within the agreed schedule.

Early completion for photography: If you request that your hair and makeup be completed several hours earlier to allow for pre-ceremony photographs, any additional waiting time or on-site touch-up support outside the agreed standard schedule will be charged at £50 per hour.

Any extended attendance and its cost will be discussed and agreed in advance.

17

Early Morning Start Fee

A £100 early-start fee applies to a wedding booking where the first hair or makeup appointment is scheduled to begin before 6:30am.

This fee applies once per wedding booking and is separate from travel, accommodation and other agreed expenses.

An appointment beginning at 6:30am or later does not incur this fee.

18

Travel & Mileage

Travel is charged at £0.55 per mile for the return journey from my studio in Royston to the agreed getting-ready location.

Where additional artists are required, their travel is also charged at £0.55 per mile for their return journeys from their respective starting locations.

Mileage will be calculated using a reasonable driving route and included in your quotation or invoice.

19

Parking & Vehicle Access

Please arrange suitable parking and unloading access at the getting-ready location wherever possible.

Reasonable parking charges, tolls, congestion charges and other applicable vehicle access fees will be added to your booking costs.

Where additional artists are attending in separate vehicles, their necessary parking and vehicle charges may also apply.

Any anticipated charges will be communicated wherever reasonably possible in advance.

20

Hotel Accommodation

Overnight accommodation may be required where the journey to the getting-ready location is expected to exceed two hours or where travelling on the wedding morning would require me to leave home before 6:30am.

Where accommodation is necessary, I will research suitable hotels and provide a selection of options and costs for your approval before making a booking.

I will arrange and initially pay for the agreed accommodation. The approved cost will then be included in your final wedding invoice, payable 21 days before the wedding.

Where additional artists also require accommodation, their necessary and agreed accommodation costs will be charged separately.

If plans change after accommodation has been booked, reasonable unavoidable amendment or cancellation costs may apply.

21

Changes to the Getting-Ready Location

Please inform me by email as soon as possible if your getting-ready address changes.

A revised location may affect travel time, mileage, parking, accommodation or the wedding morning schedule.

Any additional costs will be discussed and agreed before arrangements are updated.

If a change is made after your final invoice has been paid, reasonable agreed additional expenses may be invoiced separately.

22

Allergies, Sensitivities & Product Reactions

Please inform me of any known allergies, sensitivities, skin conditions or relevant product concerns at your trial, or before the wedding if you are not having a trial.

A variety of professional hair and makeup products may be used during your appointment. Although care is taken when selecting and applying products, individual reactions can sometimes occur.

Where reasonably available, I can provide product information to help identify ingredients or products used.

Nothing in these terms excludes or restricts liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including liability for negligence.

23

Photography, Portfolio & Social Media

I may occasionally wish to photograph completed hair and makeup looks for my professional portfolio or business marketing.

Please let me know by email before your wedding morning if you do not wish photographs to be taken.

Permission to take photographs and permission to publish them on my website, social media or other marketing channels will be requested separately.

Your images will not be published for marketing without your affirmative consent.

You may withdraw marketing consent at any time. I will stop future use and take reasonable steps to remove images from channels under my control, subject to any applicable legal obligations.

24

Artist Illness, Emergencies & Unforeseen Circumstances

In the unlikely event that illness, an emergency or another unforeseen circumstance prevents me from attending your wedding, I will notify you as soon as reasonably possible.

I will make reasonable efforts to arrange a suitably qualified replacement artist, subject to availability and your agreement.

Where booked services cannot be provided, appropriate refunds and any other remedies required by law will be offered.

Your statutory consumer rights remain unaffected.

25

Client Satisfaction & Complaints

Your satisfaction is important to me, and I welcome feedback throughout your appointment.

If you have any concerns about your hair or makeup, please let me know as soon as possible so I have an opportunity to make reasonable adjustments during the appointment.

If you wish to raise a concern after the wedding, please contact me by email with the relevant details so the matter can be reviewed fairly.

Raising a concern after the event does not remove your statutory consumer rights.

26

Communication & Booking Amendments

All significant booking amendments, cancellations, postponements and changes to wedding arrangements must be requested by email.

Changes will be considered confirmed once acknowledged and agreed in writing.

Please ensure that the contact details provided at booking remain accurate so important information can be communicated promptly.

27

Statutory Rights & Applicable Law

Nothing in these Terms & Conditions affects your statutory rights as a consumer.

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, subject to any mandatory consumer protections that apply.

If any provision is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue to apply to the extent permitted by law.

28

Acceptance of Terms & Conditions

Before your wedding date can be confirmed, please read these Terms & Conditions carefully and confirm your acceptance by email.

Please reply using the following wording:

"I confirm that I have read, understood and agree to the Wedding Hair & Makeup Terms & Conditions provided by Charli Smith Makeup Artist."

Your booking is confirmed once both your written acceptance and £100 reservation fee have been received.

Thank you for choosing Charli Smith Makeup Artist. I look forward to being part of your special day.
